Kieran Tierney on the verge of agreeing pre-contract with Celtic | OneFootball

Celtic are close to securing the signing of Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney.

According to a report from The Telegraph, the 27-year-old left-back is on the “verge of agreeing” pre-contract with Celtic over an emotional return to Parkhead.

Tierney is out of contract at the Emirates Stadium in the summer, and he is being linked with a move to a host of clubs. However, it appears that he has chosen to return to his boyhood club, Celtic, instead.

Mike McGrath claims that Tierney has rejected the opportunity to move abroad or stay in the Premier League, as he wants to return to Parkhead.

Bayer Leverkusen, Sevilla, Juventus and Everton all wanted to secure his signature, but it appears he will join Celtic instead. The big question is – will he stay at Arsenal for the rest of the season or move to Celtic now.

A product of the Celtic academy, Tierney progressed through the youth ranks before making his first-team breakthrough in 2015. He became a key player for the Scottish giants, and then moved to Arsenal in a £25 million move in 2019.

Tierney has made three appearances in January, and the Gunners might decide to keep him. Jakub Kiwior, Riccardo Calafiori and Oleksandr Zinchenko remain the other options for the north London club.

Brendan Rodgers has discussed his January plans for Celtic, but he didn’t give any hint about potential Tierney’s return. It appears that a deal is close, and Celtic should try to bring him to the club in the January window.

Meanwhile, the Bhoys are likely to lose Kyogo Furuhashi, who is edging closer to joining French club Rennes. In a separate deal, Celtic are exploring the possibility of signing their former player Jota, who has been frozen out at the French club.
