Matthews has played a key part in Brentford’s success so far this season and has shown how versatile she is having played in a number of different positions.
“It’s been a great season so far,” said Matthews.
I’ve played in midfield, wing-back and as a winger. As a versatile player, I’m always happy to help the team in any way possible.”
Following a big win over Dulwich Hamlet Reserves on Sunday, the Bees now top the table with four games in hand over second-place Clapton Community.
Despite what has been a great start to the campaign, Matthews insists it’s still all to play for and Brentford have to remain focused right until the final day of the season.
She continued: “The league table is obviously looking good for us at the moment, but it’s so early on in the season. We approach every game knowing the next game and 3 points are the most important.”
“We cannot get complacent and need to take it one game at a time with Denham up next on Wednesday.
“This will be our second game in just three days against a tough Denham side, so we know we’ll have to be at the top of our game.”
Brentford Women secured all three points by beating Dulwich Hamlet Reserves at Bedfont Sports Club on Sunday.
Two second-half goals from Paula Holguin saw Brentford win 2-0 in the LSE Division One North.
An even contest saw the game go into half-time at 0-0 and Ashley Cheatley replaced by Holguin due to injury.
The substitute made an incredible impact to the second half, scoring twice after linking up with Chloe Logie to help her side to the win.
Denham have made a solid start to the SE Division One North season where they are currently placed sixth in the league table, winning five of their seven games so far.
Their biggest win of the season game in the FA Cup against Ruislip Rangers where they claimed an 8-0 victory.
The side will enter tomorrow’s game on a three-game win streak having beat Ashmount Leigh 4-3 in their previous game.
The club will have updates of the match against Dulwich Hamlet on social media, as well as a match report on the official website and our new official app.
