David Van den Broeck is reporting that KV Mechelen and FC Copenhagen have agreed a deal for the transfer of Zimbabwean international Munashe Garananga. The defender, who only joined Mechelen from FC Sheriff back in the winter window of 2024, will be sold for almost 10 times what the club bought him for. Mechelen spent €500k to sign the defender in February, but will now sell him to Copenhagen for around €4m, with a potential €1m in bonuses.

Garananga was one of the best signings Mechelen made last season. The 23-year-old helped improve the sides fortunes and was a rock defensively. His decision to move to Belgium appears to have paid off immediately, just a few months into his contract that was set to run until 2027. For Mechelen, despite having only had the defender for 16 games, he has netted them a tidy profit that can be used to improve the squad.
