Manchester City captain Kyle Walker has left many fans of the club baffled on social media following his latest admission regarding trophies won at the club.

The England international full-back is going in search of his fourth trophy of the 2023/24 season, and his seventh of the last two seasons, as England embark on a historic second successive European Championships final this Sunday night.

Having struggled in terms of performance during the earlier stages of Euro 2024 in Germany, England have largely defied the odds to reach the final via a comeback victory over the Netherlands in midweek to take on Spain at Olympiastadion in Berlin.

Should England manage victory against arguably the best team at the tournament this summer in Spain, then it will mark the nation’s first piece of silverware since the memorable 1966 World Cup win.

Speaking exclusively to talkSPORT in the build-up to England’s European Championships final with Spain on Sunday night, Kyle Walker has admitted that he would be willing to give up numerous trophies won with Manchester City in order to claim the top prize this weekend.

“I was saying to H [Harry Kane] this morning, not all the trophies that I won for Manchester City, I’d like to keep one of each,” Walker told talkSPORT. “But every other one I’d quite happily swap for this one, without a question.”

For many Manchester City fans, the latest comments from their club captain have come as somewhat of a shock, with an outburst of reaction on social media coming in light of the comments’ emergence.

While some fans were strongly critical of his status as Manchester City captain, some went further by insisting that the Etihad Stadium club should be actively seeking a sale for the veteran defender during the ongoing summer market.

“He’s clearly at the latter end of his career. City needs to let him go,” one user wrote in response to the quotes, while another stated, “Just sack him at this point, what’s this nonsense Messi and Cristiano said they wouldn’t switch club trophies for international trophies, and you’ve got this clown saying he would.”
