Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé secured for himself an altogether unwanted piece of club history during their most recent outing.

This, of course, comes after an evening to forget for the 26-year-old on Sunday.

Mbappé, as expected, was afforded a starting berth, as Real Madrid made the trip to Mendizorroza for a La Liga meeting with Deportivo Alavés.

En route to an eventual 1-0 Blancos triumph, however, Mbappé was given his marching orders late in the first-half.

This came owing to a frankly awful challenge on the hosts’ Antonio Blanco, which saw the latter lucky to escape a serious injury.

And as alluded to above, as much has since given rise to a head-turning statistic.

As revealed by statisticians Opta:

‘Kylian Mbappé is the second Real Madrid forward to receive a red card in the first-half of a La Liga match in the entire 21st century, after Ruud van Nistelrooy vs Atlético de Madrid in 2008.’
