It only took the Los Angeles Galaxy four matches in 2025 to get their first win. After a 2-0 loss and a pair of draws, the defending MLS Cup champions collected a victory on Wednesday in Indio, California.
The Coachella Invitational continues play this week. The LA Galaxy's opponent, Minnesota United FC, was coming off an impressive 6-0 victory over Dejan Joveljic's new team, Sporting Kansas City.
In familiar territory, the Galaxy entered halftime tied, 0-0. The game only remained scoreless until the game's 50th minute.
Five minutes into the second half, forward Tucker Lampley scored his first of two goals for the Los Angeles Galaxy. Midfielder Jeorgio Kocevski was credited with the assist.
Minutes later, Lepley found the back of the net, again. Fellow forward Miguel Berry had a perfect pass into the box to set up both Lepley's and the LA Galaxy's second goal of the game.
Minnesota responded at the 69th minute. Anthony Markanich scored to prevent the shutout. The Los Angeles Galaxy wrapped up this one, 2-1.
Goalkeeper John McCarthy was the only member of the Los Angeles Galaxy to play the whole game. All starters were subbed out at the 62nd minute except for defender Zanka. He was replaced by Ascel Essengue at the 45th minute. Carlos Garces then came in for Essengue at the 62nd minute.
The LA Galaxy wrap up the 2025 Coachella Valley Invitational when they face off against the Chicago Fire FC this weeknd. The game will be played on Saturday, February 15 at 12 noon PT and 3:00 p.m. ET.
