The reigning MLS Cup champions are undoubtedly suffering from a technical crisis that could affect the rest of the season. This weekend, the LA Galaxy tried to mount a comeback against the Portland Timbers, but were beaten 4-2 and saw their run of games without a win reach ten, a figure unthinkable before the start of the season.

This win gave Portland more confidence for the rest of the regular season with a seven-game unbeaten run, having not lost a game since a 1-1 draw against LA Galaxy on March 16. Overall, the team has five wins, two losses and three draws.

On the other hand, LA Galaxy have the worst start in the history of any defending MLS champions, with no wins in their last ten games, three draws and an impressive seven defeats. In addition, they have the worst goal difference in the league (-12), which is the number that most represents the poor form of the Los Angeles team.

A large part of another defeat for LA Galaxy this season was due to the excellent performance of Antony, who contributed three assists for the Portland Timbers. In the first move, he chased down a loose ball on the left and lifted the ball for Miki Yamane to complete. Then, in another aerial move, he crossed the ball sideways for Da Costa to finish with a sensational volley, already contributing decisively with two goals in just 38 minutes of play.

Finally, Antony took advantage of a fast counter-attack and laid the ball off for Moreno to finish into the right corner of the penalty area. After going 3-0 down in 63 minutes, LA Galaxy reacted with Christian Ramirez scoring after a quick finish from Joseph Paintsil's cross. Marco Reus then scored a fine goal to make it 3-2, but Jonathan Rodriguez wasted no opportunity to score from the penalty spot and seal an impactful victory.
