AC Milan are considering adding a sporting director after the departure of Antonio D’Ottavio, and a report has linked Fabio Paratici.
The choice to relieve D’Ottavio was apparently based on several disagreements with Zlatan Ibrahimovic. There were deep differences between the two on some choices between the first team, Milan Futuro and the youth sector, as per Calciomercato.com.
What it means is that Milan do not currently have an operational sporting director, leading to suggestions that the role could be filled either soon or in time for next season. According to La Stampa (via DailyMilan), former Juventus director Fabio Paratici is being considered.
The issue stopping him from being hired immediately is that he is currently serving a ban which will expire in June. From the summer, though, the 52-year-old will be able to return to operate in football and Milan could make an attempt.
Paratici worked as previously as a scout at Sampdoria and then teamed up with Giuseppe Marotta at Juve. In June 2021 he joined Tottenham Hotspur as managing director of football, resigning on 21 April 2023 after the Italian Football Federation Plusvalenze investigation.
He was given a 30-month ban from football which FIFA extended to be in place worldwide, and he will have served his time by the end of this season. However, it remains to be seen if such a move would be supported by the Milan fans.
