Deportivo Toluca extended their unbeaten run after a 2-1 win over rivals Chivas during their Liga MX Clausura round seven clash at Estadio Nemesio Díez.
Three points was the demand on the night for both sides in a historically closely contested affair after the rival pair have managed just one win apiece across their five previous Clausura fixtures.
The returning Alan Pulido thought he bagged the match opener in the 19th minute for his second in two appearances for Chivas since his January arrival from Sporting Kansas City, only for it to be pulled back for offside.
Chivas would then miss a golden opportunity after Miguel Tapias ballooned his header over the bar in the 28th minute, with Diablos Rojos finding the breakthrough six minutes later thanks to Alexis Vega's drive from outside the box.
It was all Toluca in the opening 45 minutes across an impressive first-half performance, with Chivas boss Óscar García lucky to see his side just one goal down going into the interval.
Antonio Mohamed's outfit remained dominant after the break but struggled to build on their one-goal lead, with Chivas still looking dangerous when on the counter before a moment of real quality would finally see the away side level matters at one-all in the 70th minute thanks to a sweetly struck effort from outside the box by 18-year-old Mexican youth international Hugo Camberos.
But Toluca would have the final and deserved say on the night right at the death thanks to an own goal in the 90th minute after Brian Garcia's attempted ball deflected off Camberos' arm and snuck past goalkeeper José Rangel at the near post.
Despite five minutes of added time, Toluca would bank all three points to climb up to fifth in the Clausura table while Chivas remains just inside the top ten.
