Lauren James has pulled out of the England squad for the upcoming October internationals due to a calf injury.

James was forced to miss out on Chelsea's recent Women's Champions League clash with FC Twente in the Netherlands this past week, with new Blues manager Sonia Bompaster confirming the injury in her post-match press conference after the 3-1 win:

"In the last moment of the warm-up she felt something in her foot. At the moment it’s too early for me to say something else about LJ. We will have to assess her in London and see how she feels," said Bompaster.

Said injury has now meant that James will also miss the Lionesses' upcoming games against Germany at Wembley Stadium on October 25 and South Africa at the Coventry Building Society Arena on October 29.

In a statement released by the FA, it was confirmed that no one has been called up to replace James in the squad yet: "Lauren James has withdrawn from the England squad for the forthcoming October internationals.

"James will stay with Chelsea for treatment as she continues to recuperate from a calf injury.

"No further additions are planned at this moment in time."

Three of James' Chelsea teammates are in the Lionesses squad, with Hannah Hampton, Millie Bright and Aggie Beever-Jones all being called up for the games this coming week.
