Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia missed both of Belgium’s recent international games with a hamstring injury.
Lavia was called up to the Belgium squad for the games against Italy and Israel but did not take part in either.
He was replaced with 20 minutes to go in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal before the international break and speaking about his omission for his country, Belgium boss Domenico Tedesco told RTL Sports: “I think Romeo Lavia has a hamstring problem. It was bothering him this morning and we didn’t want to risk him.”
Meanwhile, winger Pedro Neto has returned to his club having left Portugal duty early.
He scored in his nation’s 5-1 win over Poland last week but was allowed to return to his club earlier along with three others – Bernardo Silva, Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes.
Several other Blues players have been in action over the break including Noni Madueke, Joao Felix, Christopher Nkunku, Marc Cucurella, Nicolas Jackson, Mykhailo Mudryk and Enzo Fernandez.
Madueke and Nkunku will now return to Chelsea following England and France’s final games of the break while the likes of Portugal, Spain, Senegal, Ukraine and Argentina will play over the next couple of days.
