Lazio are reportedly keeping tabs on young Bayern Munich winger Mathys Tel who is finding little space at the Allianz Arena this season.
The 19-year-old started his career in his native France, representing several clubs before being poached by the Bavarian giants in the summer of 2022. Despite his tender age, the young forward managed to carve himself a role with the first team during Thomas Tuchel’s reign.
However, Tel has been starving for minutes this season with Vicent Kompany in charge, struggling to compete with the likes of Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, Thomas Muller and Michael Olise for a starting place. Therefore, he only managed to make eight appearances across all competitions this season, just three as a starter.
So according to Il Corriere dello Sera via Calciomercato, the teenager is seeking a January exit in search of more playing time. And while Bayern are unlikely to accept a sale, especially after recently extending his contract until 2029, the player’s entourage is asking for a loan move at the very least.
So as the Italian newspaper explains, Lazio are closely monitoring the situation, as they could try to pounce on the player’s services, although there are no concrete developments at the moment. Tel is a profile that would suit the Biancocelesti’s needs, as they would be able to register him on the Under-22 list while leaving the senior squad intact.
The France U21 starlet is a right-footed player who primarily plays as an inverted left winger, but he can also feature on the right flank where his services could be needed, especially with Gustav Isaksen and Loum Tchaouna blowing hot and cold.
