Lazio are reportedly open to selling their striker Taty Castellanos as City Football Group have lunged forward with an offer.

The holding company owns a host of football clubs around the world, with the most renowned being Premier League champions Manchester City. Their ranks also include La Liga side Girona and Major League Soccer’s New York City FC.

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà, the group has made an offer to Castellanos, but it’s not clear whether they are looking to add him to Girona’s ranks or another club’s. The Argentine was already on New York City’s books between January 2019 and July 2023 when he made the switch to Lazio, and had also spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan at Girona.

The source claims that City Football Group put €15 million on the table in addition to bonuses to acquire the 25-year-old’s services. For their part, Lazio are requesting a larger fee for their striker, but as Pedullà notes, this is the first time this summer that Castellanos’ future has become a topic of discussion, as the Biancocelesti had been keen to maintain him.

The Mendoza native started last term as an understudy to club captain Ciro Immobile but became the first choice in March following the appointment of Igor Tudor who briefly replaced Maurizio Sarri before vacating his post at the end of the season, with Marco Baroni arriving as a succcessor.
