Lazio have reportedly identified NK Istra full-back Moris Valincic as a potential investment for the future.
The Biancocelesti have recently adopted a new business model based on investing in young players, as illustrated by their summer revamp. Nevertheless, they still have a few ageing departments to address, including the right-back post which currently contains Adam Marusic (32), Manuel Lazzari (31) and the out-of-favor Elseid Hysaj (30).
So according to Italian journalist Gianluca Longari, Lazio have set their sights on Valincic, a 21-year-old right-back who is considered among the most promising young players in Croatia, as evidenced by his recurring appearances for the country’s U21 national team.
The youngster started his career at HNK Rijeka and then embarked on various experiences with several clubs, including Dinamo Zagreb, before signing for Istra in the summer of 2023. This season, he has been a regular feature with the club’s first team, making 15 appearances in the Croatian league and two in the domestic cup.
Even if Lazio managed to snap up the services of the Valincic, they’re unlikely to add him to their squad this season. But with Hysaj set to depart this month, and Marusic running on an expiring contract, there could be a spot for a new right-back next season.
