Lazio and Matias Vecino might still end up parting ways before the end of the summer transfer season.

With Ciro Immobile, Luis Alberto and Felipe Anderson all gone, the Uruguayan has become one of the few remaining veterans at the club. The 32-year-old has been at the club since 2022, proving to be an important utility player in the middle of the park.

Marco Baroni is planning to rely on his services this season. The new Lazio coach gave Vecino around 30 minutes on the opening day of the Serie A season against Venezia. He replaced Nicolo Rovella in the 65th minute during the match that ended in a 3-1 victory for the Biancocelesti.

But according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà, the future of the former Fiorentina and Inter Milan man remains in the balance.

Lazio Midfielder Vecino Has Suitors In Turkey

While Vecino is part of Baroni’s plans, the source doesn’t completely rule out an exit before the end of the month. The Uruguay international is running on a contract that will expire next summer, which is casting major doubt over his future.

Therefore, the management could be open to letting the experienced midfielder leave this summer for the right offer. Pedullà reveals that Vecino has attracted interest from Turkey, potentially from Besiktas, which would set the stage for a reunion with Immobile. Moreover, the Biancocelesti must offload some of their current players to make room for new arrivals, especially on the Serie A and Europa League lists.

Nevertheless, the journalist insists that Lazio still prefer to sell their outcasts Toma Basic and Jean Akpa Akpro rather than Vecino.
