League B nations seek victories as September window closes

MIAMI – League B continues in the 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League, with encounters on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday to conclude the September FIFA match window.

After an eventful first matchday in League B, nations will seek to close with victories as they continue to battle for positioning within their respective groups.

Group A will feature two encounters on Sunday at Stadion Antonio Trenidat in Rincon, Bonaire. The Kirani James Athletics Stadium in St. George's, Grenada, will host Group B play on Monday.

Group C will also be contested on Monday, at Estadio Centroamericano in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. Group D will conclude the match week on Tuesday at the ABFA Technical Center in Piggotts, Antigua and Barbuda.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines vs. Montserrat

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines meet Montserrat in Group A on Sunday at Stadion Antonio Trenidat in Rincon, Bonaire.

Unbeaten in its last two CNL matches, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines opened its current campaign with a 1-1 draw against Bonaire. Montserrat is coming off a 4-1 loss against El Salvador and will seek to climb out of the bottom of Group A.

The Vincy Heat will hope to get captain Oalex Anderson Jr. going after recording just one shot in the draw against Bonaire. Monserrat will look to Brandon Barzey, who scored in the opener, and Alex Dyer to generate offense.

These two nations have played each other three times. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines dominate the series, winning all encounters, racking up a combined 27 goals, and keeping three clean sheets.

El Salvador vs. Bonaire

El Salvador meets Bonaire in Group A on Sunday at Stadion Antonio Trenidat in Rincon, Bonaire.

El Salvador launched to the top of Group A with their four-goal performance in its opening match, the most La Selecta has scored in a Nations League match. Bonaire’s defense will try to slow down the likes of Emerson Mauricio and Brayan Landaverde, as it seeks to gain its first three points of the campaign.

Captain of El Salvador, Alexander Larin is another player to watch with two goals and an assist in four CNL matches played. This encounter will be Bonaire’s first against a Central American team in their international match history.

Curaçao vs. Saint Martin

Curaçao and Saint Martin meet in Group B on Monday at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium in St. George's, Grenada.

The two nations face off for the first time ever as both aim to rebound from defeats in their opening encounters. Saint Martin was shut out by Grenada, while Curaçao fell 2-1 to Saint Lucia.

Leandro Bacuna finished with an assist and led the team with five shots as he anchored an eager team on the prowl for points. Saint Martin will look to their CNL all-time scorer Axel Raga, who scored eight goals in last year’s tournament, to get going as both sides aim to climb out of the Group B basement.

Haiti vs. Sint Maarten

Haiti and Sint Maarten meet in Group C on Monday at Estadio Centroamericano in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. Haiti is the group leader after a 4-1 victory over Puerto Rico. Sint Maarten is behind them after a 2-nil win over Aruba.

Scoring isn’t an issue for either of these nations. Sint Maarten have the services of Gerwin Lake, the tournament’s all-time scorer with 16 goals, while Haiti’s Frantzdy Pierrot has tallied eight goals in Nations League play.

Grenada vs. Saint Lucia

Grenada and Saint Lucia will battle for the top spot in Group B on Monday at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium in St. George's, Grenada.

With five saves and the clean sheet, goalkeeper Chad Phillip was one of the bright spots in Grenada’s opening win over Saint Martin. Regan Charles-Cook is the motor in the attack with his nonstop pressure and energy.

Saint Lucia has a dynamic threat in the 21-year-old Arkell Jude-Boyd, who is always looking to push up the field and use his speed to impact the game.

The nations have some history, meeting 13 times before, ten of those being friendlies. Grenada has eight wins to five wins for Saint Lucia.

Aruba vs. Puerto Rico

Aruba and Puerto Rico meet in Group C on Monday at Estadio Centroamericano in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico.

The two meet for the first time in the CNL and have met twice before, in the 2002 World Cup qualifiers. Aruba won the first contest 4-2, and t a 2-2 draw.

Aruba’s strong point in their loss to Sint Maarten was goalkeeper Matthew Lentik, who made six saves in a spectacular outing. Lentik will be tested again against Ricardo Rivera, Puerto Rico’s top Nations League scorer with 12 goals, and Gerald Díaz.

Dominican Republic vs. Dominica

The Dominican Republic and Dominica face off for the top spot in Group D on Tuesday at the ABFA Technical Center in Piggotts, Antigua and Barbuda.

Dorny Romero continues to be a force for the Dominicans, contributing a goal and an assist in the 3-2 comeback victory against Bermuda. Chad Bertrand stole the show with an incredible goal in Dominica’s 2-1 win over Antigua and Barbuda.

This will be the fourth encounter between the nations. The Dominican Republic has won two of the previous three meetings

Antigua and Barbuda vs. Bermuda

Antigua and Barbuda hosts Bermuda in Group D on Tuesday at the ABFA Technical Center in Piggotts, Antigua and Barbuda.

Both sides are eyeing their first points of the tournament to climb up the group standings. The meeting will also mark the 12th all-time, with the most recent encounter ending in a 1-1 draw in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Bermuda will seek to defeat Antigua and Barbuda in an official match for the first time since July 4, 1992, in qualifiers for the 1994 World Cup.

Kane Crichlow and Reggie Lamb lead Bermuda with a goal each. Javorn Stevens was the lone scorer in Antigua and Barbuda’s previous match.
