The Seagulls take on Bristol City in their final group stage match at Broadfield Stadium on Wednesday evening. Brighton & Hove Albion know that a win will see them end the group stage in a qualification place.
Brighton & Hove Albion go into the fixture as favourites but head coach Vidošić says that it’ll be a tough game and that his side will give Bristol City respect.
“It shouldn’t matter who the opposition is or the competition, we have to treat everyone equally because if you’re a little bit off, you’ll get punished,” Vidošić said when speaking in the pre-match press conference.
“There are good teams, even in the Championship there are very good teams. Bristol City are in a good run of form, they got a great result at the weekend in the FA Cup and they’re also trying to get through in the League Cup. I’m sure they’ll want to have a good performance and go into the weekend’s game with confidence, so we expect a tough challenge. We also want to put our name in the draw for the next stage of the League Cup.”
Going on to discuss Bristol City in detail, Vidošić highlighted the role of their wing-backs in building attacks.
He said “They have a back-five with the wing-backs which step into midfield at times in build-up. They can ask different kinds of questions, so we have to be aware of all of those things.
“We need to be able to adjust in game because they do have a couple of different variations that they like to use and we know the dangers that they possess. In the League Cup, teams have been changing a little bit as well, so whether or not that’ll be the case, we will have to wait and see.
“They’re doing really well in the Championship, we know they’re a good team and we know that they’re dangerous. We know that they’ll also want to get through to the next phase of the cup but we are looking forward to it, we know it’s a good challenge and we have to be on it. We want to play our football and see if we can get some joy against them. It’s shaping up to be a really good game.”
Brighton & Hove Albion are potentially just 90 minutes away from reaching the Women’s League Cup quarter-finals and Vidošić said that it’d be a great thing to qualify.
He said “It’s massive [to qualify]. Every chance that we have of winning silverware for the club, we have to treat very seriously. The League Cup is another chance for us.
“We know it’s going to be a tough game but we will be fully-prepared for it. Hopefully, a lot of our fans will come out and help us get into the next phase of the League Cup.”
