Just six days after being sent off at Manchester City, Trossard returned to score and force the decisive third goal, which ultimately gave Arsenal the lead again deep into injury time.

Reflecting on his contribution, Trossard described his feelings as “just relief” when the ball hit the net in the 94th minute. “I had some good opportunities, and when the ball doesn’t go in, you need to keep believing and believing. It was great that the ball went in and gave us the lead again,” he said.

Arsenal’s winner, which came via a Wilfred Ndidi own goal from a corner, marked their 26th set-piece goal since the start of last season, extending their lead as the Premier League’s most prolific team from dead-ball situations.

“Credit to the boys, everyone kept believing going forward and pushing to create chances,” Trossard said about the team’s determination. “If it doesn’t go your way at that point, you need to keep pushing, and that’s what we did. In the end, the luck was on our side.”

The match saw Arsenal register 36 shots, their joint-most in a Premier League game since records began in 2003-04.

Despite Leicester’s goalkeeper Mads Hermansen making 13 saves, the most by any keeper in a Premier League match since David De Gea’s 14 saves for Manchester United against Arsenal in 2017, Arsenal’s persistence eventually broke through.

Reflecting on the team’s start to the season, Trossard said, “I think we’ve started very well. Obviously, we’ve had a tough run with the fixtures, but I think we came out really well, some good points on the road, and we’re just happy to have the win today as well after a tough game. We can now look forward.”

Arsenal’s victory, secured with their ninth set-piece match-winning goal since last season, reinforced their reputation as a team capable of overcoming challenges.

Trossard summed up his feelings simply: “I’m buzzing! It’s great that we won the game today, and it’s another three points.”
