The Championship pair have been linked with a new centre-forward transfer target

Leeds United and Norwich City are both interested in signing Hammarbay striker Jusef Erabi in the summer transfer window.

That's according to journalist Marc Mechenoua, who says it will cost either of the Championship duo an eight-figure fee to secure the services of the 21-year-old.

Erabi has come through the youth ranks at Hammarby, before becoming a more regular feature in their first-team over the past two years.

In total, the striker has made 60 appearances in all competitions for their senior side, scoring 18 goals and providing one assist in that time.

He has also been capped by Sweden at Under 19s and Under 21s level, and it seems as though that is starting to attract interest in him from elsewhere, with two weeks to go in the transfer window.

Championship pair keen on Hammarby forward

As per this latest update, both Leeds and Norwich are keen to sign the striker before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

It is claimed that negotiations are taking place over a move for Erabi before the end of the summer.

As things stand, there are around two-and-a-half years remaining on the striker's contract with Hammarby, securing his future at the club until the end of the 2026 calendar year.

That gives the Swedish side some scope to negotiate any offers that come in for him, and it is thought that they want around €10million for his services this summer.

With the Allsvenskan season running from March to November, Hammarby currently sit third in the Swedish top-flight, eight points adrift of league leaders Malmo with 12 games to go.

Leeds began their Championship campaign last weekend with a 3-3 draw at home to Portsmouth, before losing to Middlesbrough in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

Daniel Farke's side are next in action when they travel to The Hawthorns to face West Brom on Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile Norwich were beaten 2-0 by newly-promoted Oxford United in their first league game of the season, before claiming a 4-3 win over League One side Stevenage in the cup on Tuesday.

The Canaries are set to host Blackburn Rovers at Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon.

Jusef Erabi would be an interesting signing for Leeds or Norwich

There is an argument that the signing of Erabi could be a decent one for either of these Championship sides to make.

Already this summer, Norwich have sold Adam Idah to Celtic, and look to have seen a deal for Rennes striker Bergut Yildirim collapse.

Meanwhile, Leeds appear to be on the verge of losing Georginio Rutter to Premier League side Brighton.

As a result, both clubs do seem to be in need of some extra firepower in attacker, which Erabi can offer them.

Given the funds they have brought in for those one their way out, it also looks as though both clubs should be able to meet Hammarby's asking price for the 21-year-old.

That being said, the fact that the striker is currently untested outside of Sweden, does suggest there will be an element of risk involved in this deal.

Both Leeds and Norwich will therefore have to decide if this is a gamble worth taking, and it will be interesting to see what decisions they make here.
