Leeds United remain at the top of the Championship table despite losing 1-0 against Portsmouth at Fratton Park on Sunday, and they are one of the favourites to secure promotion to the Premier League this season.

Both Leeds and Sheffield United are tied at the top with 76 points, while Burnley is on 74 points. It could be a nail-biting ending, and the Whites need to win most, if not all, of their games.

Once Leeds secure promotion, the 49ers can start planning for the summer. They must look to sign players with proven Premier League experience who can help them stay up in the league.

According to a report from The Sun, Kalvin Phillips could make a sensational fairytale return to his old club in the summer, and Leeds United’s scouts have been watching him closely.

The report claims that Philipps will leave Man City at the end of the season, where he has no future. He is currently on loan at Ipswich Town from Man City, and spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham United.

Phillips joined City in 2022 in a £45 million deal, but the move has turned into a nightmare for him. At the moment, Leeds should only focus on securing promotion, as they can simply forget about signing Phillips if they fail to achieve their target.

He has played just 16 times under Pep Guardiola in two seasons, and he needs to join a club where he can resurrect his future. Philipps has played 31 times for England, and his chances of representing the country will increase if he starts performing at the level that we all know he is capable of.

Leeds could also focus on signing Manor Solomon permanently from Tottenham Hotspur, should they secure promotion. The on-loan midfielder has registered seven goals and seven assists in the league this season, and he has emerged as a key player under Farke.
