Legendary Ex AC Milan Coach Names Inter Milan As Serie A Title Favourites: ‘The Strongest Team Who Have Spent The Most’

Arrigo Sacchi feels Inter Milan are the favourites for the Serie A title as “the strongest team who have spent the most.”
The legendary former AC Milan and Italy coach gave his thought in an interview in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
This week saw further developments in the Serie A title race.
Inter Milan won their match on Saturday. They ground out a 1-0 victory against Genoa.
Then, yesterday afternoon, Napoli fell to a surprise 2-1 defeat away to Newly-promoted Como.
And Atalanta thrashed Empoli 5-0. That victory enabled them to get to within three points of the Serie A table.
Inter take on Napoli next weekend. That match is a top-of-the-table clash, and the Nerazzurri go into it with a one-point advantage, having finally gone ahead of Napoli.
Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri face Atalanta just before the March international break.
Inter Milan going ahead of Napoli in the Serie A table this past week hardly means that they have decisively taken control in the title race.
However, it does certainly have the feel of a big momentum shift.

Former Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi commented that “Inter, as I’ve said before, are the team best-equipped to win.”
“But that doesn’t mean that they will win,” he continued.
“They have organization. They have experience. And they’ve also spent a lot in the transfer market.”
Sacchi did caution that Inter’s “Champions League commitments could be a distraction and take away physical and mental energy.”
The former Rossoneri coach also noted that “Atalanta are now three points behind league leaders Inter, that’s certainly not an enormous gap.”
“So I think anything is possible,” Sacchi mused as far as an Atalanta title charge.
“On Saturday there will be the duel in Naples. Atalanta, meanwhile, are at home against Venezia. There are several reasons to think the team from Bergamo can do it.”
