The Foxes travel to North London to contest their latest fixture in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
Arsenal have lost just once at home in the Barclays Women’s Super League this season while they are UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-finalists. When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Leicester City boss Miquel said that her side must be on top form to get a result.
“Renée [Slegers] has been doing very well since she took over [as Arsenal head coach], they have been scoring many more goals,” Miquel said. “Their qualification in the Champions League shows that they are really performing. Any team that wants to complete has to have one of their best days, so that’s what we will aim to do.”
Arsenal contest the first leg of their UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-final against Lyon at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. Miquel is open-minded when it comes to the question of whether The Gunners will have one eye on the weekend.
She said “You have two possibilities; it’s either a distraction or a rehearsal, so we will hope for the first one.”
Leicester City are close to preserving their top tier status for another year but Miquel wants her side to look beyond simply securing survival.
She said “Four wins would be great. Why focus on one win? Why do less when you can do more?
“Our objective, is to have the best season possible. There are still 12 points that can be taken and we are aiming for the 12.”
Leicester City are winless on the road in the league so far this season. Miquel says that setting a new club record for top flight points would be every bit as special as getting that illusive first away win.
She said “It’d be better if we win away but if we beat the points record and don’t win away, I think the fans will be happy anyway. Ideally, we want to make them extra happy but if we get one of the two, it’ll be really good.”
Leicester City’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Arsenal kicks-off at 7.30pm this evening.
