Leicester City legend Kasper Schmeichel had one of the best performances of his life for Celtic in the Champions League, keeping a clean sheet in Italy.

Kasper Schmeichel needs absolutely no introducing to Leicester City fans. Even young Leicester fans will have been told all about him by older generations of Leicester fans.

The goalkeeper is a Foxes legend through and through. He won the Premier League, Championship and the FA Cup with Leicester. He is a true testament to hard work, having risen through the football pyramid.

So, it is bittersweet seeing Kasper Schmeichel play for Celtic. On one hand, he is playing for another honest club with an incredibly rich history. On the other hand, it doesn't feel right to see him in any jersey other than Leicester.

However, Leicester fans should appreciate the incredible performance their club legend put in for Celtic in midweek. The Hoops drew 0-0 away from home against the Europa League champions Atalanta, with Kasper Schmeichel denying 2.38 xG (expected goals).

Atalanta unsurprisingly took the game to Celtic on home soil. They took 22 shots against Kasper Schmeichel, with the great Dane making six saves. As mentioned, he was faced with 2.38 expected goals but conceded exactly zero.

Leicester City fans might remember a certain performance from Kasper Schmeichel in the Champions League. It was against Sevilla, when Schmeichel put in perhaps his greatest performance in history.

Well, while it wasn't to the same level as that Sevilla performance, Kasper Schmeichel showed that he's still got it in midweek for Celtic.

We can only hope that the Foxes legend is successful with Celtic this season. The Glaswegian side is always tipped to win silverware but with Schmeichel providing his experience between the sticks, their chances are only heightened.
