It was the visitors who had the best chances in the first half, with Peter Gulacsi forced into a number of good saves.

Tim Klendienst almost opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, but he could not get the ball through Gulacsi's legs from a promising position.

A few minutes before the break, Franck Honorat hit the Leipzig crossbar with a long-range shot, before Christoph Baumgartner's header was tipped over by Moritz Nicolas at the other end in what was Leipzig's only real chance of the first half.

The game changed at the break, with Leipzig coming out strongly and pushing for the opener.

Just after the hour mark, Lois Openjda flicked the ball on to Baumgartner, whose low shot was well saved by Moritz Nicolas.

As the second half wore on, Leipzig coach Marco Rose made a series of changes in an attempt to find the decisive goal, but it never came and the Roten Bullen were held to a draw.
