Despite reports last week indicating that a deal had been agreed with Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr over the transfer of Séko Fofana, Lens CEO Arnaud Pouille has insisted in a press conference this afternoon that nothing is definite for the time being.
Pouille has confirmed that there are indeed talks for the sale of the Ivorian international, in a media appearance reported on by RMC:
“For the time being he hasn’t been sold definitively to anyone, whether that’s Al-Nassr or somewhere else. It’s an important topic for us. There are talks which are ongoing, as we told you last week. At the time of speaking, he has not been transferred.”
Despite leading the Sang et Or to a spot in the Champions League, after a season that saw Franck Haise’s men push eventual champions PSG all the way, Fofana could become the latest player to move on as part of the Gulf state’s lucrative offensive on European football.
The midfielder initially joined the Artois outfit three seasons ago in the wake of their promotion back to Ligue 1, and has been a crucial part of successive finishes in the upper reaches of the table – whether through his timely crucial goals or his line-breaking drives, as well as his on-field leadership.
