Leny Yoro is impressed with Manchester United’s relentless approach to sign him | OneFootball

Manchester United kicked off their summer window plans by recruiting Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna on Sunday. The club have now shifted their attention to improving the backline.

Matthijs de Ligt of Bayern Munich seems to be the most obvious choice with both clubs close to agreeing the final fee while the Dutchman has already agreed on personal terms with the Red Devils.

The former Ajax star is not the only defender being eyed by the club with as many as two more centre-backs being pursued. However, the deal for Leny Yoro of Lille has proved to be quite a challenging one.

The 18-year-old attracted plenty of interest after a breakthrough campaign last season where he made 44 appearances in all competitions, scoring thrice and helping keep 19 clean sheets.

Yoro race between United, Real

As relayed by The Peoples Person, the Old Trafford side had submitted a formal bid worth over €50 million for the France U23 international and Lille have accepted but the player is yet to do so.

The reason? He wants a move to Real Madrid who are his dream club. Super agent Jorge Mendes wants his client to move to the Bernabeu but the Spanish giants are not behaving like an outfit who are desperate for the generational talent.

They have so far refused to pay as much as the English counterparts and have not even submitted an official bid. In fact, they are eyeing a free move for the teenage sensation whose contract with the French club ends in 2025.

Lille are trying desperately trying to get Yoro to accept United’s deal as otherwise they risk losing their prodigy on a free. Real have even kept alternatives ready in case a move for Yoro fails.

United have continued to be relentless in their bid to land the Frenchman, even offering to pay more than the offer that has already been accepted. And United’s desperation has impressed the Frenchman as per Le Petit Lillois.

The choice is a straight one between the La Liga giants and United with Lille waiting for Real’s official approach. They will not wait for much longer.

Yoro impressed with United

“United’s initial offer is said to be close to 45 million euros (excluding bonuses) and, according to English sources, this could still be revised upwards. The Red Devils would indeed be ready to increase the amount to definitively tip the balance in their favour.

“This growing interest is significant in the eyes of Leny Yoro and his close friends, who has been touched by the efforts made.

“On the other hand, the choices made by Real Madrid raise questions and, if its leaders continue their strategy and do not send their long-awaited and discussed final offer, it could lose the advantage by letting the young Lille player slip away, even with the support of Jorge Mendes.”

INEOS would not be wasting their time if they felt a deal was not possible. Now it will be interesting to see what Yoro chooses. United have certainly done all in their power to sway his mind.
