Potentially only 90 minutes from Wembley.

Newcastle United fans with the latest collection of opinions below, this time specifically about this Newcastle v Arsenal second leg..

Contributions are sometimes too brief to make up into a full article and so we have gathered up a number of recent comments sent in, regarding Newcastle v Arsenal, including a few commenting on previous articles and giving them a wider audience (if you would like to send anything in, long or short, regarding Newcastle United, then contribute@themag.co.uk is the place):

Dear Mag,

This is simply all about us getting behind Eddie and the lads.

Nothing else matters.

Keep your moaning to yourself, for outside SJP, after the match is finished.

I am seeing it as treason, any Newcastle United fans turning up and not giving it anything but 110 percent.

Come on!!

Dear Mag

Said this to everybody I know.

I don’t care how horrible we play, park the bus, or whatever we need to do,

Especially against this whinging entitled lot.

I have been to two League Cup semi-final second legs at SJP and NUFC won both.

Dear Mag,

I suspect Botman will return, unless he has an injury Eddie has hidden.

Also, Miley for the crocked Joelinton. That’s more of a punt than picking Longstaff and Eddie is not one for unnecessary gambles but I just feel Miley offers extra control alongside Bruno and Tonali.

Longstaff, Wilson and the bench centre-back would be good options to bring on if needed.

Big Joe, even if fit, is liable to be suckered into a yellow or red by the Woolwich cheats.

The game needs a strong ref to control their antics at throw-ins and corners. Not sure the appointed official fits that description.

Dear Mag,

I have got a feeling he’ll start with Pope in for Dubravka- we’ve conceded 6 in the last 2 home games.

Also, I can see him putting Tripps in for Tino.

Eddie likes experienced heads in big games.

I’d be amazed if Botman didn’t start, after being rested last weekend, probably for BDB.

That’s my three changes and I’d be happy with that tbh.

Dear Mag,

Having watched The Lads for over 76 years in places as varied as Shanghai, New York and Sydney when I was working, I still always get a feeling of anxiety (not good if you have heart problems like me) when an important game is near.

You may say what game is unimportant?

However, the game against Arsenal on Wednesday is ultra important.

Why ? Please do not be silly to ask why.

I was lucky to see the Lads play Fulham, Southampton and Brentford.

Against Saints, whist they won at times, they were lucky– 2 VAR decisions changed the result for me and many supporters around me.

I really want them to win on Wednesday but all the bookies say NO, say NO against Birmingham City and NO to a top six finish—hence my anxiety.

O ye of little faith, I hear the usual crowd say.

But I have had massive faith for 76 years (and seen the games) but somehow my anxiety is still there.

Please no usual excuses come Wednesday pm.

(ED: Arsenal are favourites to win tonight’s match in normal time at 10/11, with draw 3/1 and NUFC to win at 3/1. However, to get to the final, Arsenal are 7/2 and Newcastle massive favourites at 1/4. As for in the FA Cup, to get through to the fifth round it is the same, Birmingham are 7/2 and Newcastle big favourites at 1/4. Whilst to finish top six, Newcastle are one of the top six favourites! There are no offers any longer on Liverpool and Arsenal, then 1/8 Chelsea, Man City 1/5, Forest 2/7, Newcastle 2/5, then Bournemouth 5/4)

Dear Mag,

We can’t sit back and try and defend a 2-0 lead; we need to try and win this game.

It could be pivotal for our season.

Going out at this point, having done the hard work at the Emirates, could really knock the stuffing out of the club.

In 6th place with 3 tough league games coming up and Bournemouth breathing down our neck, European football hangs in the balance.

Scream Stevie

Dear Mag,

Forget about being 2-0 up it’s 0-0 and it’s all about giving Arsenal the hardest game possible, don’t give them a second on the ball and punish them for every error.

Dear Mag,

Look, get rid of all this stuff about being convinced Newcastle United are going to lose this because we are Newcastle United…

It is good not to be arrogant BUT at the same time, just imagine how you would feel at kick-off in this Newcastle v Arsenal match if the score in London had been…

Arsenal 1 Newcastle 2

Arsenal 2 Newcastle 2

Arsenal 2 Newcastle 1

Arsenal 2 Newcastle 0

Arsenal 3 Newcastle 0

And so on.

Eddie, the players, the fans, all played a blinder down there.
