Chelsea defender Levi Colwill believes his side are “unstoppable'” when at their very best and backed them to qualify for the Champions League.
Enzo Maresca’s side have been absent from Europe’s elite competition for the past two seasons but are one of five teams with realistic hopes of a Champions League finish.
A win against relegation candidates Ipswich on Sunday would go a long way to securing their spot in next season’s competition.
Speaking after a comfortable Conference League victory in Warsaw, Colwill said: “Sunday is a huge game for us.
“Every game from now on is a final. We’ve got to get the three points at home. And of course, considering what happened last time, we’ve got to remember that and give it a bit more.”
Defeat to Ipswich at the end of December started a run of poor form for Chelsea which saw them fade out of the title race.
“We weren’t good enough and they beat us, so it’s as simple as that,” Colwill reflected.
“But we’ve got to use that bit of anger that we’ve got in us, which is natural, to beat them this time. They’re quite a difficult team. I know that they’re in the bottom three, but they don’t always play like a bottom three team.
“That’s what happened last time. I think they played well. We struggled and they stopped us from making as many chances as we usually do.
“But this time, I think it’s a completely different game and we’ve got to step up at the Bridge to win.”
And Colwill has little doubt that Chelsea can beat any team in world football when they are performing at their highest level.
“I think every team in the league has had ups and downs this season,” he added.
“When we’re playing our football, I think we’re unstoppable. We’ve got to keep doing that. We’ve got to push on with the momentum and hopefully get a win on Sunday.
“Momentum is the biggest thing. And if our confidence is high, I think we’ll beat anyone. So we’ve got to carry that on come Sunday and get the win.”
A Champions League finish would represent progress for Chelsea in Maresca’s first season with the club and they are also strong favourites to lift the Conference League trophy.
“We’re in this competition to win it,” Colwill acknowledged.
“There’s no two ways about it. When you play for Chelsea, every competition you’re in, you’re trying to win. And it’s the same with this one. And I think it’s an amazing experience doing that.”
