Bristol City boss Liam Manning has taken aim at fans who booed his team at full-time following their 0-0 draw against Sheffield Wednesday.

He made these comments to Bristol Live, with Manning clearly unhappy with the dissent.

It has been a fairly slow start to the season for the Robins, who would have been hoping to put more points on the board by now.

Their start to the campaign hasn't been totally disastrous, with their victory against Oxford United helping to boost morale, but they haven't picked up as many points as they would have wanted to.

They have been unable to take advantage of some winnable games and yesterday was another one of those, with City having the home advantage against a side that haven't been great at times this term.

Before last month's match against Oxford, it was reported by Football Insider that Manning was under pressure at Ashton Gate.

Since then, they have secured a 2-1 win against Oxford and drawn against Swansea City and the Owls.

Having made some promising additions during the summer, fans may be disappointed that the Robins haven't made a better start, and many were left frustrated with last night's showing.

During the game, the Owls only had a couple of chances and they came towards the latter stages of the game.

As well as this, Wednesday hadn't picked up a single point away from home this season before their trip to Ashton Gate.

This may have increased the Robins supporters' frustrations, but Manning wasn't happy with those who booed his team at full-time.

He told Bristol Live: "It’s disappointing, you don’t want it and I think the lads didn’t deserve it. I think it sums the world up a little bit.

"I was the first to put my hands up after Blackburn when we lost, people not competing, not running, not bringing enough energy but tonight it wasn’t that.

"The lads gave everything, they asked questions and I can’t control the booing - I think it’s really unjust for the lads to be far. It’s unfortunate. It’s where the world is at, it’s easier and quicker to do it. Rather than at 0-0 and go and make some noise and get behind them. Everything in the world right now is so short term.

"We want the fans with us and it’s the first time we haven’t scored this season. We’ve got a really disappointed and frustrated changing room because we want to win games but we’ve got another 38 to go.

"It doesn’t help but I want to talk about the lads rather than the booing. It’s disappointing and you don’t want to hear it but I’ll concentrate on the players ultimately and when you see it the lads gave everything."

Liam Manning must keep Bristol City supporters onside

With Manning seemingly coming under pressure already this season, he needs to do his best to keep supporters onside.

It's understandable that he will back his team and be supportive of them, but his comments last night may not have helped his cause.

At the moment, they are in a fairly comfortable midtable position, but they probably should be doing better, considering they had some winnable games that they failed to capitalise on earlier in the season.

The Robins are one to keep an eye on, because they have some great ingredients, but it's unclear how well they will do.
