Matchday 11 of the Clausura took place this weekend and there were some major moments which will impact the final league table come the end of the end of the campaign.

Atlas fought back at the Estadio Caliente in Tijuana for one of their greatest nights in modern history as León suffered a first league defeat of the season to struggling Santos Laguna.

Sergio Ramos was on target again for Los Rayados whilst it was the second Clásico de los Clásicos in three days as Chivas headed to the capital to meet Club America. There was also a goalmouth in the State of Mexico as seven goals were scored in Necaxa's visit to Toluca.

Here is everything you need to know about the Clausura Matchday 11:

Friday 7th March 2025

San Luis 1-0 Juárez

Los Bravos returned to the north emptyhanded following a narrow loss to San Luis. Óscar Macias' second goal in as many games was enough to send the home side up to 15th, but remain six points away from Chivas in the final playoff position.

Tigres 1-0 Querétaro

Tigres continued their 100% record under interim manager Guido Pizarro as a single goal was once again enough to decide the bout. Nicolás Ibáñez's early goal sends UANL two points behind Club América as they head into a midweek tie with Cinncinati FC in the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Puebla 1-3 Pumas

Efraín Juárez was also left satisfied following his new side's win on the road to Puebla. Los Universitarios needed to come from behind as Facundo Waller opened the scoring in the first 10 minutes but they were shot in the foot when Brayan Angulo was sent off. Granted a lifeline, Pumas hit back as Piero Quipse netted his second of the campaign before Guillermo Martínez scored a typical poachers finish to give the visitors the lead as the points were sealed in added time by Ali Avila, who grabbed his first of the season.

Toluca 5-2 Necaxa

Toluca mounted a spectacular comeback against fellow playoff hopefuls Necaxa when the visitors took a 2-0 lead. The scoring got underway when Diber Cambindo scored his tenth of the season to continue his red-hot start to the season but the home side hit back as Paulinho gave them a lifeline before half-time. In the second half, Alexis Vega recorded a 28-minute hattrick to inspire Los Rojos Diablos to an impressive result to go three points ahead of their weekend guests into fourth.

Pachuca 1-1 Mazatlán

John Kennedy joined Los Tuzos from Fluminese in January and scored his eighth goal in 11 games to salvage a point after Mazatlán took a lead early in the second half. The result means Pachuca climbed level on points with Necaxa in seventh whilst Los Cañoneros remain two points behind Chivas.

Cruz Azul 1-1 Monterrey

Sergio Ramos was the big talking point last week after making his Monterrey debut and getting on the scoresheet during a 4-2 win against Santos Laguna and this time out he was on target to secure a point in the capital. His header gave them the leader against Cruz Azul but it was cancelled out by an Ignacio Rivero equaliser as the sides compete for playoff positions going into the business end of the Clausura.

Club América 0-0 Chivas

In all the madness of the weekend, you would have been forgiven for forgetting that there was a Clásico de los Clásicos on Saturday night. The two met in the Champions Cup on Wednesday where Chivas got the last laugh thanks to a Sebastián Cáceres own goal, but the two couldn't be decided this time around with América unable to break through the Chivas backline for the second time in four days. Next up is the second leg of that tense battle in the Cup in the capital.

Santos Laguna 2-1 León

León had been unbeaten across their first nine games but that came to an end as they faced the league's bottom side, Santos Laguna. Stiven Mendoza gave León the lead with 20 minutes left to play but a red card to Adonis Frías gave Santos the help they needed as Ramiro Sordo levelled the game before Anderson Santamaria scored the all-important goal to give Fernando Ortíz's side a second win in three games to climb off the foot of the table.

Tijuana 3-4 Atlas

Just as we thought we had witnessed the biggest shock of the weekend, Tijuana and Atlas had other plans in mind. Los Xolos have just two wins in the Clausura but looked set for a third when they took a 3-0 lead just after half-time. Atlas looked down and out but got a quick goal from Matheus Doria to offer a glimmer of hope before Uros Djurdjevic took home the match ball with three goals in 19 minutes, beating Vega's impressive record for Toluca. His goals included an unbelievable scorpion kick and a 90 plus 11-minute winner to silence the Estadio Caliente.
