Lille superstar Jonathan David has handed Juventus a huge transfer blow amid growing speculation linking him with a move to Turin. Out of contract at the end of the season, David will leave Stade Pierre-Maurouy on a Bosman deal, with numerous top European clubs vying for his signature.
Juventus are among the most high-profile suitors. Indeed, the record-time Italian champions are eager to revamp their attacking options in the summer. Star striker Dusan Vlahovic seems closer to leaving the club than staying after tumbling down the pecking order under Thiago Motta.
Furthermore, Randal Kolo Muani could return to Paris Saint-Germain after his loan spell runs out at the end of the season. Despite a flying start to life in Serie A, the Frenchman has hit a rough patch, making Juventus reconsider a purchase option.
On the other hand, David has been on the club’s radar for almost two years. However, Juventus could miss out on the Canadian center-forward’s services in light of the recent events.
“The Premier League is much faster and more physical than all the other leagues,” the Juventus target admitted via Calciomercato. “However, I grew up watching La Liga, and it is my favorite league. It is the league I like to watch the most, and one day, I would like to play there.”
Asked point blank what he thinks of Barcelona, David replied: “It has always been the team of my dreams. When you grow up rooting for a team, you dream of playing for them.”
