Nantes will look to achieve their greatest ever European feat tonight as they take on Juventus at La Beaujoire, with a Europa League last 16 spot on the line. Les Canaris drew away 1-1 at Turin’s Allianz Stadium last week with Ludovic Blas cancelling out the opener from Dušan Vlahović.
Nantes, the only French club involved in three different competitions, have nothing to really lose tonight as their European campaign has exceeded all expectations. The same cannot be said about Juventus. The Massimiliano Allegri-led side has been eliminated from their Champions League group last autumn and will need a miracle to return to Europe’s showpiece club competition due to their 15-point deduction in Serie A. A Europa League title might just be their only way to salvage their troubled season.
Nantes’ head coach Antoine Kombouaré is expected to field a slightly different team than the one that drew at Turin last week with in-form midfielder Florent Mollet replacing Samuel Moutoussamy.
Nantes likely lineup v Juventus
Alban Lafont – Jean-Charles Castelletto, Andrei Girotto, Nicolas Pallois – Fabien Centonze, Moussa Sissoko, Pedro Chirivella, Marcus Coco – Ludovic Blas, Florent Mollet – Mostafa Mohamed.
