Lille file complaint against Lyon’s signing of Thiago Almada | OneFootball

According to a report from RMC Sport, Lille have filed an official complaint with the LFP regarding Lyon’s signing of Thiago Almada (23) on loan from Botafogo. The signing of the Argentine attacking midfielder has been viewed as controversial.

Les Gones are currently under a transfer embargo, which prevents them from signing players until their financial situation improves. Imposed by the DNCG, OL will face relegation to Ligue 2 if they cannot prove that they have made efforts to improve their finances. Despite the transfer ban, they were able to complete the signing of Almada on loan without a fee from their sister club.

Les Dogues are not the first club to file a complaint when Almada was starting against them. Toulouse and Reims have also filed official complaints when Lyon have selected the World Cup winner in their matchday squad to face the respective Ligue 1 sides. Thus far, none of these complaints have seen further action taken against Lyon.
