Ernesto Valverde has confirmed that Lionel Messi needs a hamstring scan before he can play again.
The Barcelona superstar missed Argentina’s friendly fixtures against Italy and Spain due to a hamstring issue sustained during the international break.
As of Thursday morning, it is still unclear whether or not the La Liga giants’ medics will give Messi the green light to join the squad on their trip to Sevilla this Saturday.
“We will not worry about something which we do not yet know for sure,” Valverde has told reporters.
“We do not think the situation is anything serious but depending on the results (of the scan) we will look at what to do as the best solution.
“I’m not worried because Lionel knows very well if he is injured and what that relates to, but whilst there is definitely a small issue we do not know anything more.
“We hope it is not serious and can be overcome quickly.”
