The last night was another memorable one for the FC Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal, as he was officially recognised as the Golden Boy award winner for this year in a gala held in Turin, Italy.

The youngster had already received his award before the game against Leganes in front of his fans, as it was already known that he, along with the rest of the Barcelona delegation, would not be travelling to Italy for this event because of logistical issues.

Still, he ensured his participation in the gala, as he gave a remote speech. One of the topics he talked about in this speech was about his career aspirations going forward.

He also received congratulatory messages from around the world on this latest recognition, but the most valuable message for him on this occasion must have been the one from Lionel Messi.

As SPORT has reported, the Barcelona legend took to his social media to congratulate Yamal, and the other Blaugrana representatives on the podium last night, Vicky Lopez. His message went as:

“Lamine, Vicky: this award reflects not only talent but also hard work and sacrifice. It is a pride to have you as part of Messi+10. Congratulations, and keep it up!”

There is no doubt that this would have been a very special message for both of these individuals, Yamal and Vicky. However, it would have been even more special for Yamal, as he is widely seen to be the heir of Messi at Barcelona.

The Argentine himself had picked the young winger as the best talent in the world of football today, and he would also be quite glad to see him pick up this prestigious award and continue to live up to his expectations.

For now, Yamal is recovering from another ankle issue that he suffered in the game against Leganes, but hopefully, he will be ready and fit for the Spanish Super Cup that starts in the second week of January.
