Ellen White marked her 100th appearance with the only goal as England edged Austria in the FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
Playing in front of over 9,000 at Sunderland AFC’s Stadium of Light, the Lionesses made the breakthrough late in the first half, when White netted from a deflected Fran Kirby shot.
Mary Earps made a couple of crucial saves early in the second half, as England went on to record a fifth straight win and go five points clear at the top of the group.
Next up on Tuesday, England host Latvia at Doncaster Rovers’ Keepmoat Stadium in another World Cup qualifying group game.
