Liverpool got back to winning ways on Tuesday night as they overcame Rangers in the Champions League.
Goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah on either side of half-time were enough to see Jurgen Klopp’s side secure a crucial three points at Anfield.
set the ball rolling for the Reds as they cruised to victory.
After another disappointing result on the domestic front against Brighton over the weekend, Klopp would have been hoping to see a tangible response from his side as they look to get their season back on track.
That is exactly what he got as, after tinkering with his formation, the infamous Liverpool press was back to its devastating best.
With Diogo Jota and Thiago working their socks off and Jordan Henderson providing Alexander-Arnold all the insurance he needs, the Reds looked much more like themselves.
One key point of concern that will still remain in the hearts of the Anfield faithful will be the indifferent performances of blockbuster summer signing, Darwin Nunez.
After splashing out a record fee for the striker, Nunez has struggled to make his mark in England.
While there are encouraging signs – his movement and work-rate can’t be faulted – a striker’s currency is goals, and that is where he is falling short.
However, he is not short on support and you can be sure that just about everyone who may consider themselves a Red will be desperate for him to start finding the back of the net on a regular basis.
His teammates will be doing everything they can to help him settle in as well, with no one working harder on embedding the Uruguayan than Thiago.
The Spaniard has been seen translating for Nunez on numerous occasions since he arrived in England and he once again showed his love for his new teammate on Tuesday night.
After the final whistle blew at Anfield, Thiago was seen embracing Darwin to praise him for a solid showing.
Thiago will know better than most that it takes some time to get used to the rigours of a Klopp system and will be offering every ounce of support he can to the new man.
If Nunez can start netting with regularity, then Liverpool’s dreary start to the season could quickly be forgotten about as they hunt yet more silverware.
With Thiago by his side, Nunez will be confident that the goals will start flowing very soon.
