Liverpool are targeting a move for Union Saint-Gilloise forward Mohamed Amoura, who could become the first signing of the Arne Slot era at Anfield.
Slot is set to be named as Jurgen Klopp’s successor at Liverpool and plans are already in motion to rebuild the Reds in his image.
Another forward could be high on the club’s list of priorities amid recent speculation over the futures of Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah, with the latter subject of interest from the Saudi Pro League after Liverpool rejected a £150m bid from Al-Ittihad last summer.
Amoura is admired by Liverpool’s recruitment team after a prolific campaign in Belgian football.
The 24-year-old signed for Union Saint-Gilloise from Swiss side Lugano last summer and has had an instant impact, scoring 18 times in 20 Jupiler Pro League appearances to fill the void left by Victor Boniface’s departure to Bayer Leverkusen.
Though predominantly a centre-forward, he is capable of operating off either flank and, according to Kicker, has an asking price of around €20m (£17.2m) at the Belgian side.
Wolfsburg are also interested in Amoura, while there has been speculation linking the Algeria with West Ham and Brighton. Union Saint-Gilloise are part-owned by Brighton owner Tony Bloom.
