Liverpool fans will be delighted to see Harvey Elliott back in full training after a frustrating injury lay-off.
The England Under-21 international has been sidelined since early September with a foot fracture, missing the Reds’ last 14 matches across all competitions.
Elliott joined Liverpool’s Under-21 squad for a training session on Monday, marking a significant step in his recovery process. The 21-year-old’s versatility has been missed by Arne Slot’s side.
With the international break approaching, Elliott is on track to return to first-team action soon after. His return will provide a much-needed boost to Liverpool’s squad depth, especially with several other players currently sidelined.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in the recent win against Aston Villa. However, early reports suggest the injury is not serious, and he could be back sooner than expected.
Goalkeeper Alisson Becker is also out with a hamstring injury, but Caoimhin Kelleher has impressed in his absence. Diogo Jota, who has been struggling with an abdominal issue, may require a few more weeks of recovery.
As Liverpool gear up for a busy period, the return of key players such as Elliott will be crucial in maintaining their strong start to the season.
He would provide another attacking option through the centre and deputise for talisman Mohamed Salah as Liverpool look to consolidate their place at the top of the league table.
Liverpool currently lead Manchester City by five points following a terrific start to the season. They can maintain that healthy gap with a win over Southampton at St Mary’s after the international break.
