According to German outlet Bild, Liverpool are poised to sign Hannover 96 goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler as an understudy to Allison.
The 34-year-old made 31 appearances in the second tier of German football this season and looks set for a third stint in England.
Zieler came through the Manchester United academy after completing a €100k move from 1.FC Köln U17 in 2005.
The German had a brief spell out on loan with Northampton Town before returning to Germany on a permanent deal in the summer of 2010.
Zieler joined the recently crowned Premier League champions Leicester City in 2016 for a fee believed to be in the region of €3.5m but left the following year after making just 13 appearances for the Foxes.
Jürgen Klopp is looking for a ‘strong and reliable’ number two ahead of next season and the 96 captain is high on the list of candidates.
