Liverpool are reportedly one of the clubs pushing for the January transfer window signing of Lyon attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki.
The talented young Frenchman looks set to be available on the cheap this winter, possibly for as little as €30million.
That’s according to a report from Foot Mercato, who name Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain as Cherki’s biggest suitors.
Both clubs seem to be keen on getting a deal done for Cherki as soon as possible in order to avoid facing even more competition for him later on.
The 21-year-old has an impressive record of five goals and seven assists so far this season, and it seems clear he has the potential for a big career ahead of him.

Liverpool could surely be a tempting option for a player like Cherki if he is to leave Lyon, but one imagines PSG would also be hard for him to turn down.
Cherki might do well to stay in Ligue 1 for a bit longer while he’s still young, and it’s possible that he’d also have more of a key role if he made the move to the Parc des Princes.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot already has a lot of options in his attack, with Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa all playing in Cherki’s position.
PSG, by contrast, look in need of a bit more quality in attack after losing Kylian Mbappe in the summer, so someone like Cherki could be ideal to give Luis Enrique’s side a bit of a boost in the second half of the season.
Liverpool fans will no doubt be keeping a close eye on this story, however, as €30m could be an absolute bargain for a skilful prospect like Cherki.
