Saudi Arabian clubs may be circling, but Liverpool’s stance on Darwin Nunez is clear—he is not for sale. As reported by the Daily Mail, Al Nassr made an approach in January, but the club quickly dismissed any possibility of a move. Despite external speculation about his form, the striker remains central to Liverpool’s plans as Arne Slot continues to fine-tune his role.

The Uruguayan forward has had his doubters, but within the club, belief in his potential remains strong. In recent weeks, he has delivered when it matters—his match-winning brace against Brentford and solid performances against Bournemouth and Tottenham are proof that his influence is growing.
Slot has taken a hands-on approach to developing Nunez’s game, making tactical tweaks to integrate the No 9 more effectively. Speaking on the striker’s progress, the Liverpool manager noted:
“He’s been better indeed. In general, we use the No 9 better and better than we did in the beginning of the season. We used to be quite dependent on our wingers but now we are starting to use our No 9 more and more.”
The Saudi Pro League remains determined to lure top talent, and sources suggest that their pursuit of Nunez is far from over. With major investments planned for 2025, they are likely to return in the summer with another bid. Al Nassr, home to former Liverpool star Sadio Mane, already boasts an impressive roster, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Aymeric Laporte. Their ambitions will continue to test Liverpool’s resolve.
Off the pitch, Nunez has had a busy period, with the birth of his child leading to a brief absence from training. However, his presence in the squad for Liverpool’s FA Cup tie at Plymouth underlines his commitment. The club is confident that with continued development, he will only improve, further cementing his importance in the team’s evolution.
For Liverpool fans, this report provides reassurance. Nunez, despite the criticism, is beginning to find his rhythm under Slot. His movement, pressing, and ability to stretch defences are becoming increasingly vital to Liverpool’s attacking play. If his finishing sharpens, he could become one of the most feared forwards in the league.
Liverpool’s firm rejection of Saudi interest speaks volumes. Unlike other Premier League clubs willing to offload stars for financial gain, Liverpool have recognised the importance of continuity and development. Nunez is still only 24, and his best years are ahead of him.
The shift in Liverpool’s approach is also promising. Slot’s tweaks are ensuring the No 9 is no longer an isolated figure, which bodes well for both Nunez and the team’s overall attacking balance. His continued improvement will be key in Liverpool’s title ambitions this season.
For now, the message is clear: Liverpool are backing their man. Nunez is staying, and under Slot’s guidance, he might just become the striker the Kop has been waiting for.
