Real Madrid have been linked with the best young talents in the world for years now, and Ryan Gravenberch was one such star Los Blancos’ maintained serious interest in.
Moving on from the Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro midfield, after all, was never going to be simple and Real Madrid’s name automatically found itself linked with every overperforming young midfield talent for a span of few years.
Gravenberch, however, attracted interest from elite European clubs other than Real Madrid as well and eventually signed for Bayern Munich from Ajax in 2022 before moving to Liverpool a year later.
Speaking to the media earlier this week, Gravenberch’s agent, Jose Fortes, commented on a possible move for his client to Real Madrid, especially given Los Blancos’ struggles this season.
He admitted that the Dutch star has the required caliber and that his camp would love to see him play for Real Madrid, but pointed out the economic hurdle as a limiting factor.

“He’s good enough for Real Madrid. We would love for him to play for them, but Liverpool would ask for a lot of money. I know they’ve had their eye on him, but now it’s impossible,” Fortes told MARCA (h/t Fabrizio Romano).
Real Madrid, after all, have been linked with a move for Gravenberch in the past with the last reports surfacing even as recently as four months ago.
Los Blancos have long seen him to be a player who has a special ability to recover balls and add stability to the midfield department, something that has lacked since Toni Kroos’ departure.
Moreover, his age is a critical positive for he can slot into Real Madrid’s long-term plans alongside the likes of Federico Valverde and Jude Bellingham.
Gravenberch’s current contract, however, runs until June 2028 and it is close to impossible that Liverpool will release such a key component of their project on a budget fee. Real Madrid’s search, thus, must continue.
