According to a report in the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool have been linked to German wonder kid Kai Havertz of Bayer Leverkusen. The 20-year-old was ridiculously good last season after getting 20 goals in all competitions. He also registered 7 assists in that time and looks primed to be the best German player in years.
Havertz primarily plays as an attacking midfielder but can also play on the right-wing. He is a typical left-footed player, who likes receiving the ball on the half-turn from the right side and putting the final touches to the attack. He is already a German international and has made 3 appearances for the national team so far.
Jurgen Klopp will know all about Havertz, being a German himself. Klopp has changed Liverpool completely since taking over and was rewarded with a Champions League title finally last season.
Liverpool’s recruitment has been fantastic in the last couple of seasons and Havertz would be another player who should fall in line with the successful incomings.
Liverpool have a great balance at the moment and it’s difficult to change too much in a side that is already quite good.
One of the things that they lack is a creative player behind the likes of Salah, Firmino and Mane. While Firmino is in charge of linking the midfield and attack, he can’t be expected to play all games in a season.
Naby Keita hasn’t quite worked out so far but he will be expected to hit the ground running next season.
Liverpool haven’t made a marquee signing this season so far after spending quite a lot of money in the last two summers. With City continuing to improve their side and looking even higher with a Champions League to win, it’s important that Liverpool continue strengthening as well.
Liverpool came very close last season but failed to capitalize in a short period, where they drew to the likes of Manchester United, West Ham and Leicester City.
One of the reasons for the dropped points was the lack of a player who could be a bit of a playmaker. Klopp often looks to his full-backs for the creativity and tends to keep a midfield that can win the ball and quickly start attacks.

This tactic doesn’t work against teams who like to play a low-block and Liverpool would benefit greatly from the signing of Havertz. Havertz would also develop his game under Klopp.
