With Liverpool yet to sign anyone this summer window, the club is also coming under fire for letting a number of young players with bright futures leave the club.

First, despite impressive performances and goals against both Manchester United and Arsenal during the club's preseason tour of the USA, 21-year-old Fabio Carvalho was allowed to complete a permanent transfer to Brentford.

Next, it was Bobby Clark, 19, who, according to the Echo, has agreed personal terms on a permanent switch to RB Salzburg, where he will rejoin former Reds assistant manager Pep Lijnders.

Now, according to David Lynch, Liverpool are prepared to sanction the permanent transfer of academy prospect Harvey Blair this summer, despite his impressive pre-season performances with the first team.

A growing Anfield exodus

The 20-year-old forward, who hails from Huddersfield, has attracted attention from several clubs, including Championship side Portsmouth.

According to the report, Liverpool would not obstruct Blair's departure if a suitable offer materialises.

Blair was among a select group of youngsters retained for the final fixture of Liverpool's US pre-season tour, featuring in matches against high-profile opponents such as Real Betis and Arsenal. However, rather than securing a loan move, he now appears poised to join a growing exodus of young talent from Anfield.

This potential departure comes as new Liverpool manager Arne Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes continue to reshape the squad.

Blair is one of several more young players linked with moves away from the club, with 18-year-old winger Ben Doak also rumoured to be available for a permanent move. While a loan is the most likely outcome, the Reds could be tempted to sell should they receive an offer that matches their valuation.

Likewise, Stefan Bajcetic, 19, could also be set to complete a loan move to gain him valuable playing time.

Injury-disrupted development

Blair has shown considerable promise at academy level, notably scoring 10 goals and providing five assists in just 16 games during the U18 Premier League two years ago.

However, his progress was hindered by an injury-ridden 2023-24 campaign.

Despite these setbacks, Blair remains a sought-after talent, with Reading also expressing interest in securing his services.

As the summer transfer window progresses, the young forward will be hoping to prove his worth at the senior level, potentially away from Anfield.
