Liverpool have identified Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong (24) as their priority target to replace the departing Trent Alexander-Arnold (26), according to Sports Zone. The Liverpool Academy graduate has announced he will leave his formative club at the end of the season. The England international is expected to put pen to paper over a long-term deal with Real Madrid. It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will allow Alexander-Arnold to link up with Los Merengues for the Club World Cup in exchange for a transfer fee.

Liverpool will dip into the right-backs’ market to replace Alexander-Arnold and have reportedly set their sights on signing Frimpong. L’Equipe reported on Sunday that the Bayer Leverkusen and Monaco right-back Vanderson were on the Reds’ wishlist. Sports Zone now adds that Liverpool head coach Arne Slot and the Premier League champions are in agreement that Frimpong is the ideal fit to fill the void on the right flank.

The outlet adds that the Dutch head coach has already exposed his vision of Liverpool’s future to the player. The Dutch international – who might link up at Anfield with fellow Oranje Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo – is reportedly enticed at the prospect of joining the Reds, but he is yet to give Liverpool the green light.
