Two of the best teams in the land meet at Anfield this Sunday, as Liverpool entertain Manchester City.
Liverpool dominated the Champions League holders in midweek with a 2-0 home victory over Real Madrid. It was not all good news, however, and Arne Slot’s defensive options have taken a huge hit with Ibrahima Konate out until the New Year.
The Frenchman sustained a knee injury against Real Madrid on Wednesday and joins Diogo Jota and Alisson on the sidelines. However, Trent Alexander-Arnold is poised to return to the side after making the bench during the week.
Manchester City’s European exploits went a lot differently as they threw away a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 with Feyenoord in Manchester.
Despite the result, there was positive news for City as Ruben Dias was included in the squad after a month out injured. However, John Stones and Mateo Kovacic are unavailable alongside long-term absentees Oscar Bobb and Rodri.

Liverpool look unstoppable under Arne Slot and are currently on a 15-match unbeaten run.
They sent a message of intent in Europe on Wednesday night as they dominated Real Madrid in the Champions League. Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo scored the goals to extend their perfect record in the competition to five wins from five games.
The Reds also top the Premier League and if they succeed over Manchester City this weekend they will move 11 points clear of the reigning champions.

It is uncharted territory for Pep Guardiola and Manchester City and their misfortune continued on Tuesday.
Normal business looked resumed as the Citizens raced into a three-goal lead by the 53rd minute. However, with confidence at an all-time low, a 14-minute frenzy saw Feyenoord score three times to pull themselves level after a collapse from the hosts.
The result was City’s sixth successive game without a victory and in the process, they became the first team in Champions League history to be leading 3-0 in the 75th minute and not win the game.
That display compounded their misery after they were embarrassed at home to Spurs last weekend, in a 4-0 defeat at the Etihad.
The points were shared the last time Manchester City visited Liverpool, after an evenly-contested 1-1 draw.
Liverpool were the first team to put the ball in the net after Darwin Nunez teed up Luis Diaz, though the former was adjudged offside and the goal was ruled out.
City then found the back of the net at the other end and this time it was given. An inventive corner from Kevin De Bruyne found John Stones unmarked at the near post and the Englishman squeezed the ball past Alisson to give the visitors control.
Pep Guardiola’s team went into the interval in front, but their advantage didn’t last long after the restart. A sloppy back-pass from Nathan Ake was short, which allowed Nunez to beat Ederson to the ball. He was wiped out by the goalkeeper and a penalty was awarded.
Alexis Mac Allister stepped up to take the spot kick and dispatched the pressure penalty with aplomb.
Both sides spurned glorious chances to go in front, with Diaz in particular fluffing his lines. Jeremy Doku struck the woodwork at one end before being slightly fortunate not to give away a penalty in added time after he appeared to kick Mac Allister. Following a lengthy VAR check, the officials deemed there wasn’t enough to point to the spot and the spoils were shared.
Liverpool: Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz, Gakpo.
Manchester City: Ederson, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol; Lewis, Gundogan; Savinho, Silva, De Bruyne, Nunes; Haaland.
