Ahead of Liverpool v Newcastle in the Carabao Cup Final, we are looking to gauge the thoughts of Newcastle United fans ahead of that 4.30pm kick-off at Wembley on Sunday.

So we have asked a number of regular and irregular contributors to The Mag a range of questions.

How they think things are looking ahead of this massive match.

Whether or not they have a ticket for this Carabao Cup Final and what they expect to see happen when Newcastle United meet Liverpool.

Next up we have Nat Seaton:

Ticketed or ticketless for Sunday?

Thankfully ticketed, was in pot 2.

What are your plans around the match this weekend?

Driving down on Saturday, taking it easy on Saturday night to be able to take it all in on Sunday!

Hopefully Sunday night will be a bit different before travelling back on Monday!

The old favourite, would you rather win this Cup Final on Sunday or qualify for the Champions League via the Premier League (Obviously bearing in mind the PSR/money side of things as well)?

It is 100% winning the Cup Final.

Until that happens, we’re never going to experience how it feels 🙂 I can’t deny the importance of Champions League qualification for many reasons, but to finally win something… yes please!

Maybe a bit more difficult, would you rather win on Sunday but have no Champions League qualification these next five seasons, or lose on Sunday and have Champions League qualification guaranteed for each of the next five seasons. (Obviously bearing in mind the PSR/money side of things as well)?

That changes things, five years? It would have to be losing on Sunday.

What would be your starting eleven in the Carabao Cup Final?

Pope, Trippier, Schar, Big Dan, Tino, Bruno, Tonali, Joelinton, Murphy, Barnes, Isak.

What would have been your starting eleven if everybody had been available?

Pope, Tino, Schar, Big Dan, Botman, Hall, Bruno, Tonali, Joelinton, Gordon, Isak.

What chance do Newcastle United have of lifting the trophy (rating it between 0 and 10)?

I would say 4 out of 10.

Liverpool are definitely favourites, we have a knack of playing the best/most in form team when we reach Wembley ourselves. This time I have more confidence in us ‘turning up’.

How important was the West Ham match to our chances in the final? Has defeating the Hammers gave us a better (or worse?!!) chance, compared to if NUFC had lost on Monday?

It was a massive.

The whole feel this week has been so uplifted by the result, I’m guessing that for the players it must have made a big difference.

Listening to post-match interviews you could sense how important it was.

Similarly, what impact do you think it will have on Newcastle’s chances, what happened at Anfield on Tuesday night against PSG?

It couldn’t have gone any better for us.

Liverpool were finally put under some pressure and they didn’t come through.

In the Premier League we’ll never know how they would have reacted in any ‘must win’ games, they have never really been in that position all season and are going to walk away with the League.

Their supreme confidence must have been dented, they are beatable and hopefully a little down and fatigued (our players know that feeling!).

Who do you think are the three most important players on Sunday and in what order and why?

Step forward Alexander Isak – which Isak is going to turn up? He has various levels of good, his top one is unplayable and maybe this is going to be his time to make us all smile.

Tino at left back, Liverpool are not a one man team but they do rely heavily on Salah at times. I was at the Parc Des Princes when Tino played left back and did so well against Dembélé and at times Mbappé, we need a game like that again from him, it’s a big ask with him being so right footed but let’s hope for a game to remember from him.

Sandro Tonali – our good run of form towards the end of the year coincided with some top class displays from Sandro. Liverpool’s midfield three dominate most matches, hopefully Sandro along with Bruno and Joelinton can get the upper hand.

Looking back at your time supporting Newcastle United, which are the times when you thought NUFC were potentially going to win something?

The Premiership in 1996 of course, who didn’t?

Other than that, League Two/Championship to gain promotion.

The Cup Finals are one-off games so it’s very hard not to think you have a chance even if you are playing Arsenal or Man Utd or Liverpool or Man City – we never seem to get to a cup final without it being one of them!

Would this automatically be the highlight of your time supporting NUFC if they beat Liverpool on Sunday?

Without a doubt.

There have been some memorable times but to actually WIN, how can that not be the highlight?

Do you think if Newcastle United win this trophy it will live up to what you ever hoped it feel like, or do you think maybe a bit of an anti-climax, as in…is that it?

I hope so!

But until it happens… It would be the first win, so I can’t see how it could ever be an anti-climax.

How would you describe how you feel ahead of this match – excited, terrified, can’t wait, dreading it…?

Excited with a little bit of dread.

Maybe that’s a hangover from the last visit, remembering just how horrible it is when things don’t go as you’d hoped.

Do you think Eddie Howe and his team have got enough recognition for even getting to the final, considering the fact that in this cup run Newcastle have defeated current top four sides Chelsea, Forest and Arsenal (twice!) just to get to Wembley?

This season has been a tough route to the final where at times the team has excelled, and maybe because of reaching the final two years ago it has been reported in a more ‘expected’ way as opposed to just how amazing it has been, especially what we did in both legs of the semi-final against a team second in the League.

How do you feel compared to two years ago before the Man U final?

It’s a different feeling.

So grateful to be going back, the wait has only been two years, in that time only four clubs have been to Wembley finals.
