Liverpool head to Brentford in the Premier League today looking to bounce back from successive league draws.
Arne Slot’s side saw their lead at the top of the division to four points in midweek, after being held at Nottingham Forest. Diogo Jota came off the bench to score with his first touch and cancel out Chris Wood’s opener for Forest.
Liverpool have lost just once in the Premier League this season but a run of four draws in seven games has allowed their nearest challengers to close to gap. It’s also now just one clean sheet in seven games.
Brentford enhanced their reputation as tricky opposition again in midweek. The Bees fought back from two goals down to draw with Manchester City at the Gtech Community Stadium. Only Arsenal have taken more points in home games than Thomas Frank’s team in 2024/25.
Arne Slot revealed during Friday’s pre-match press conference that Diogo Jota is a doubt to face the Bees due to a niggle. Jota scored off the bench in midweek and was in contention to lead the line in West London.
Kostas Tsimikas, who assisted Jota with his first touch in a remarkable double substitution at Forest, could replace Andy Robertson at left-back.
Otherwise, it’s an almost clean bill of health for the Reds. Joe Gomez is the only confirmed absentee for the league leaders.
Liverpool predicted XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Jones; Salah, Gakpo, Diaz.
Brentford host Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday 18th January 2024. Kick-off in West London is 3pm GMT.
Brentford vs Liverpool will not be broadcast live to a UK audience.
