Reds handed big boost as Arne Slot looks to extend lead
Liverpool have been handed a significant boost as they prepare to renew their bid to win the Premier League title this weekend.
Arne Slot takes his table-topping side to Southampton on Sunday, looking to pick up where they left off before the international break.
The Reds ensured they went into the break five points clear of Manchester City by beating Aston Villa 2-0 earlier this month and they will be strongly expected to win again when they travel down to the struggling Saints.
It will be fascinating to see what the Reds boss does in goal. Alisson Becker has recently returned to training after a recent hamstring injury, although stand-in Caoimhin Kelleher has impressed in his absence.
With that in mind, it would hardly be surprising to see the Republic of Ireland international continue between the posts.
Slot will also need to provide updates on Diogo Jota, Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa after their recent knocks of late.
Jota, who has been missing since suffering a chest injury against Chelsea last month, had been expected to return after the November international break but Slot hinted the Portugal international may be facing a slightly longer wait than initially expected.
The Liverpool boss will also need to provide an update on Trent Alexander-Arnold after the defender pulled out of the England squad over the international break.
Liverpool predicted XI: Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Jones, Diaz, Nunez
Doubts: Elliott, Chiesa
Injured: Jota
Time and date: 2pm GMT on Sunday 24 November 2024
Venue: St Mary’s Stadium, Southampton
